Clearwater Beach n Brews!

I know…I know… I got some sexy knees! But behind the hairs on my knee is the #1 Beach in the United States, Clearwater Beach. This sweet location is only 2 hours away from where I call home, making it easy to get my beach vibes on (and rock out my beach wear).

I think I have always loved the beach. I am not sure as to the why but I do know that I feel being by the water is something I am constantly missing from my life. We recently hit up Sarasota and St. Pete so naturally the next stop was Clearwater Beach. It’s easy to see why it’s numero uno.

The view from our hotel was top notch. You can stay here at the Sheraton Sand Key Resort and enjoy the extended private beach. They have everything from volleyball nets, giant chessboards, cornhole boards, and beach toys for the kids (and adults too). They even have a fire pit near the pool for those cooler nights we get in Florida every once in a while.

There lots of places to grab a bite and a beer but I was happy to see a brewery downtown near Pier 60. Clearwater Social Brewing Company is the 1st brewery in Clearwater Beach. They had a great selection of beer on tap, including some great guest taps from around Florida. More of a spirited individual? Not to worry. They have plenty of spirits to choose from as well. On tap at the time was a Pilsner, Mixed Berry Wheat, Coffee Stout, and an Imperial Milk Stout. My favorite the day had to be the Imperial Milk Stout.

Later that night after some happy hour drinks and hors d’oeuvre I made my way inland. 15 minutes away I landed at Southern Lights Brewing Company. There were a lot of taps on hand to enjoy and I may or may not have tried them all. I loved everything I had but one did stand out of the rest. The Campfire Smoked Porter was really good. Melissa (the bartender) asked me what I tasted outside of the smokiness and I almost didn’t say “bacon” simply because I didn’t want to be wrong. Lucky for me my tastebuds got that right! And don’t think I forgot about you “No Dough” Derek. You I will always remember.

The last stop of the night was in the town of Dunedin at 7venth Sun Brewery. I like to think I am not one who is impressed easily. However, nothing made me more giddy than the fact that they don’t do flight paddles at this brewery. Oh no, that would be to easy. Instead, they do a flight “tree”. That’s right. A freakin’ tree of beer! The beer that stole the show here that night for me was Midnight Run, a berliner with coffee, cacao, and lactose. It smelled like a truffle and tasted like my life was a lie before this beer. Currently Midnight Run is my favorite beer I have had in 2018 and I am not sure anyone is going to beat that one.

The next day we chilled at the beach watching the Kona 2018 World Championships practice. Windsurfing is an awesome sport and the competitors were out in some good winds which I would guess made the competition both fun and challenging.

In conclusion, Clearwater Beach is awesome and you should go there. It’s the best beach town in America!!!!

Side Adventure Note:

On our way to Clearwater we stopped off in Tampa to grab a meal. I had heard about a spot called Datz, a hip delicatessen, has been featured on Good Morning America, Travel Channel, and the Food Network for their flair on comfort food. The Cheesy Todd, a ground brisket and short rib burger with bacon jalapeno mac n cheese for buns, is a heavy hitter that will leave you stuffed! Now if that wasn’t enough they put a side of sweet and salty house made chips with blue cheese all over.

Awkward selfie sign off!
